SMM #1 lead price fell by 25 yuan per tonne June 26, while secondary lead prices still refused to fall due to tight scrap battery supply, SMM analyst says.

SHANGHAI, Jun. 26 (SMM) – SMM #1 lead price fell by 25 yuan per tonne June 26, while secondary lead prices still refused to fall due to tight scrap battery supply, SMM analyst says.

Secondary lead prices stayed at 11,650-11,750 yuan a tonne today, with price hike reported from Guangdong market.

Scrap battery supply has remained tight recently due to low battery output during this offseason and rainy season in south China which hindered battery transporting. At the mean time, demand for the scrap grew as some smaller secondary lead smelters returned to production after the busy farming season.

In response to the supply shortage, most scrap battery suppliers offered high prices. Scrap battery prices remained stable in most regions today, but those in Henan and Hebei were raised 25-50 yuan to 7,630-7,650 yuan per tonne.
